Peek at the Week ~ December 14-18 The excitement is mounting! We have had our first “snowsuit” snow. Please make sure your child's snow pants and accessories are marked. (You'd be amazed how many black snow pants and blue coats we have.) Also please pack shoes in backpacks – boots are not appropriate to wear all day. (Those little feet will get very hot.) I am still looking for a “crafty” mom to come in this week or next to help the children make something for their family. The Parent-Teacher Support Group will reimburse you any costs. Our week begins with our Christmas concert Monday night. The program starts at 6:00. I would like the children in the room by 5:45. The children are to sit with the class throughout the program and at the end of the program I will take them back to the room – you may pick them up there. We do this because of the number of people that will be in the gym. On Friday we will have our annual Christmas Fair. The children will get to go first thing in the morning and “shop” for gifts for family members. The gifts are wrapped and the children will bring home their treasures. MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY
Peek at th week ~ December 7 – 11 Progress reports have been attached. If you have any questions and/or concerns please get in touch with me. Some dates to mark on your calendar in December are the 14th for our Christmas concert (Have a Santa hat yet?) and the 18th is our annual Christmas Fair. We are looking for parents to help with wrapping and we need donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, and bows. We will have our Christmas party on Tuesday, December 22nd. I sent home gift exchange names last Wednesday. If you are not able to participate in the gift exchange please let me know. I am still looking for some moms that would do a Christmas craft with the children. The Parent-Teacher Support Group will reimburse your costs. As many of you are aware, our district is in a financial freeze. This means we must earn our money for field trips in the spring. On Monday we will have a bake sale for grades K-2. I have asked our room mothers to contact people (3 or 4) to bake and/or help sell. If you can help, please let Andrea Joyce or Lisa Ramsdell know. (The children will want money to buy an after lunch treat.) We are beginning our Unit 4 reading book and with this we are moving into sounds! Each letter has a story and hand motion to help the children remember it. We will learn 2 sounds a week. At this point, the children should recognize all letters of the alphabet. MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY
November 30-December 4
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It is hard to believe December is here already. I am sure the excitement is mounting at your home. We will be having our Christmas program on Monday, December 14th. Our Christmas Fair will be December 18th. We are looking for helpers and donations of paper, tape, bows, and gift bags. The children have made so many gains. We are still struggling with using the lines for writing. It is important the children realize the difference between capitals and lower case letters. Some of the problems I am seeing are developmental, but some is the need for a little extra practice. Have your child practice letters and their name at home. MONDAY TUESDAY Library Day ~ Please make sure
you have your book in your
backpack.
We are sorting letters by lines and curves.More ordinal numbers today. WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY Popsicles will be on sale at lunch time. ($.25) ![]() |
