It
is hard to believe but we are only 9 days away from day 100! Our
class has collected 65 cans to date ~ great job! (And a BIG
thank-you!) On day 100 we will participate in group and class
activities. Each child is asked to bring in a collection of 100. It
must fit their backpack – have fun and be creative thinking of what
your collection will be.
I
am
sure
you are aware of the tragedy of Haiti. We at Harrington
Elementary want to participate in this global effort to aid those in
need. We are going to make a contribution from the school to the Red
Cross. What some classrooms have started is a change jar to help
with this donation. We are using the theme “Change for a Change In
Haiti”. I know we have been collecting the cans and it seems “too
much” to ask for more, but what I was hoping is that your child
could add to the jar any pocket change from their snack money (or mom
and dad's pocket at the end of the day.) As always this is purely
voluntary ~ I just wanted to let the children know we are helping
those in need on a global sense just as we are doing with the cans on
a local community sense.
On
the
back
you will find a student list for Valentines. We will not be
making our valentine holders until Friday so please do not send them
in before then. We will be having a valentine's party on Friday,

the difference is your child should be able to decode “sound-out”

high-frequency words (which need to be reviewed frequently).
