PEEK AT THE WEEK ~ JANUARY 23 – 27

We officially begin the third quarter this week. Rank cards will come home on Friday. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress to date, please feel free to e-mail me or call.

Please make sure your child comes to school with a jacket, hat, and mittens. Though we have mornings that start out mild, we have days where the temperature drops fast and coats are a MUST.

This quarter we will have Gym class twice a week. We will have Gym with Mr. Elliot on Tuesdays and Wednesday. Sneakers are a must for gym.

MONDAY

Ms. Sullivan will be in today for Music.

Our reading is a factual story on Pablo Picasso.

Long “O” spelling words.

TUESDAY

We will have Gym today with Mr. Elliot.

Library books are due back today.

In Math we are looking at figuring the perimeter and area of figures.

WEDNESDAY

Gym again today – pack those sneakers!

We will draw figures and calculate the area and perimeter of the shapes.

THURSDAY

Our reading focuses on “inspiration” today.

In science we have moved onto “Forces and Motion.”

FRIDAY

Ms. Kelley will be here for Art this morning.

We will have our Reading and Spelling assessments this morning.

Rank cards come home today.



Peek at the Week ~January 16 – 20

This week marks the end of the Second Quarter. It is hard to believe, but we are officially halfway through the year!

Just a reminder if your child wears boots to school, please make sure they have shoes packed. Wearing those heavy boots all day inside is just not good for those little feet.

In Math we are looking at different triangles.

We have a Science test today.

THURSDAY

We continue with our story “A Cloak For a Dreamer” in Reading.

We are looking at congruent figures in Math.

FRIDAY

Ms. Kelly will be in for Art today.

We will have our Spelling test today.

Peek at the Week ~ January 9 – 13

We can't rely on the weather lately so I am asking that the children make sure they pack hat, gloves, and a warm coat.

MONDAY
Ms. Sullivan will be here for Music today.
Our story this week is “the Cat Who Became a Poet”.
We will begin Chapter 7 in Math on Geometry and measurement.

TUESDAY
Library today – don't forget to pack your books.
There is a Bake Sale today ~ all “goodies” are $.50.
The PTSG will meet tonight at 6:00. We continue to work on getting a new piece of equipment for the playground. Please join us to see how you can help.

WEDNESDAY
We are reviewing contractions in Language. Mr. Elliot will be here for Phys. Ed. this afternoon.

THURSDAY
We will have our Reading and Spelling assessments today. In Math we will explore plane figures.

FRIDAY
Book Orders are due. Don't forget you can order online very easily. Use the code DRDQY. We will begin our new story today as next week is a three day week.

Enjoy the long weekend.  We have Monday off for observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Tuesday is a Teacher Workshop day.
