Peek at the Week of November 28- December 2

    Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  Time will seem to fly from now until Christmas break.  A few dates to put on your calendar for December are;  December 16th will be our annual Christmas Fair and December 19th will be our Christmas concert.  Our Christmas party will be December 21st.
MONDAY
Can-Do Monday ~ we are still collecting for our local food pantry.
Due to our storm last week we will have our Reading Assessment and Spelling test today.
Ms. Sullivan will be here for Music this afternoon.  We are practicing our Christmas songs.
TUESDAY
Library day ~ Please pack your books.
In Math we are beginning to work with time. 
In reading we are focusing on cause and effect with our story “Urban Roosts".
WEDNESDAY
In Math we will look at time before and after.
Mr. Elliot will be here for Gym today.  Don’t forget your sneakers.
In language we are working with capitalization and commas.
THURSDAY
Mrs. Roach will here for guidance today.
Problem solving in Math today.
FRIDAY
We will have Art with Ms. Kelly this morning. 
It’s Friday so we will have our Reading Assessment and Spelling test this morning.




Peek at the Week  ~ November 21 - 25
Wow! It is hard to believe Thanksgiving is already here!  We will have an Early Release Day on Wednesday.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30.

We are reading Make Way for Ducklings. 
In Math we will review making change and do some problem solving.
Ms. Sullivan will be here for Music.
TUESDAY
We will have a test in Social Studies today.
We will review money today.
WEDNESDAY
Early Release Day
We will have our Reading Assessment today.
Spelling dictation test today.
THURSDAY
No School ~ Thanksgiving Day!  I give thanks for an awesome group of Third Graders. J

Peek at the Week ~ November 14-18

It was great to see everyone at Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Overall I am very pleased with the progress the students have made.  We will continue to move forward and work hard.

After a very crazy week, we will settle into a regular week. 

MONDAY

Ms. Sullivan will be here for Music this afternoon.

We are moving on to money in Math.  This tends to be challenging for the children so gather your spare change and have them count it. 

TUESDAY

Our story this week is “City Critters”.  It is a factual story and we will create information booklets.

In Language we are looking at commas in a series.

WEDNESDAY

In Math today we are working with equivalent money amounts.

In Science we are looking at the temperature and weather.

Mr. Elliot will be here for Gym today. ~ Don’t forget your sneakers!

THURSDAY

Have you practiced your spelling words this week?

We will be learning how to “count-up” to make change.  This tends to be a hard concept, so a little practice at home will go a long way.

Awards assembly this afternoon at 1:45.

FRIDAY

I will be out today.  Mrs. Merritt will be the substitute.

Ms. Kelley will be here for Art this morning.  Last week we focused on VanGogh.

We will have our Reading Assessment today.

Spelling test is also this morning

Peek at the Week of November 7-11

It is hard to believe November is already here.  We will have Parent-Teacher Conferences this week.  I have sent home your confirmation times, if you need to change or cancel, please contact the office.

 We will also be having our annual Book Fair this week.  The students will be able to view the fair on Monday and create a wish list.  They will be able to purchase books on Tuesday.  Parents can also purchase books during the conference time on Wednesday.  This will be a great time to do some early Christmas shopping.

MONDAY

We will have our quarterly Math test this morning.

Our Book Fair Wish List will be coming home tonight.

In Language we are working with quotation marks.

Ms. Sullivan will be here forMusic.

PTSG meeting tonight at 6:00.  Please come join us and find out you can help.

TUESDAY

Students will be able to purchase books from the Book Fair today.

We will work with word problems today in Math.

WEDNESDAY

Grade -5 Bake Sale today.  All items are $.50. 

*Please send in a baked “goodie”.  The money goes toward our field trips.

We will have our reading assessment on The Boy Who Didn’t Believe in Spring.

Peek at the Week ~ October 31 – November 4

Can you believe we are at the end of the first quarter?  Time is flying by!  Ranks will close this Friday and rank cards will be given out at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, November 9th.  If you have not sent in your slip for a conference time, I will assign a time for you.

Monday is an early release day AND our Halloween party.  We will have a Sock-Hop at 9:00-9:30 to end our Red ribbon Week and “Kick Drugs”.  The students will change into their costumes and our “Parade of Spooks” will be at 10:00.  Then back to our room for treats.  Due to the early release we will begin lunch at 11:00.  Your child can either stay for lunch or leave with you after the party.

MONDAY
Happy Halloween!!! Please bring your costumes.  We will change after the sock-hop.
Early Release day – Students will be dismissed after lunch at 11:30 or may go home with you after the party.
TUESDAY
We will continue with subtraction with regrouping.
In Reading we will be doing our quarterly Reading assessment.

Our new unit in reading is “City Life”.
