Peek at the Week ~ November 23-27

Wednesday will be an Early Release day for the children due to Thanksgiving Day break.

As December approaches you will find it very helpful to check the “Peeks” and school events calendars. We are having a Christmas program December 14th at 6:00. I have attached the two songs we will be singing, please help your child learn these words. We are singing “Holly, Jolly, Christmas” alone and “Nuttin' For Christmas” with the first and second grade. I will give more information later. (For our performance I would like the children to wear Santa hats.)

I am looking for a couple of “crafty” moms to come in and do a holiday craft with the children some time in December.

Also in the folders you will find two sheets of word cards. These are the high-frequency words we have done so far. Cut them up and use them with your child for review. (Make it a game and have some fun.:) )

Attached you will find the December book order forms. I wanted to get them out before Thanksgiving so the books would be in by December. If you would like your order to be “secret” just write on the order that it is for Christmas and I will let you know when the books come in.

A big “thank-you” to everyone for helping make the Halloween party a big success. It was a great time.

Wow! The first quarter is officially over. Rank cards and portfolios will be discussed at conference time with you. The portfolio has papers and assessments your child has done this quarter. Please take the time to sit with your child and go through the portfolio and let them discuss things with you. Please do not remove items from the portfolio, as some things will go in your child's cumulative folder.

I would like to introduce the children to Veteran's Day. We will make a classroom graph of family Veterans which I have attached to this paper. Please fill-in the blanks with immediate family members – parent, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc... Also if you have pictures we will display them. Please return by the end of next week.
