Philip Farnsworth Grant

A graduate of Cherryfield Academy, Class of 1934.  He was killed October 26, 1942 at the Battle of Santa Cruz in the South Pacific.  Philip was a Lieutenant dive-bomber pilot fo the US Navy Reserve.  He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart.  Philip was 25 years old.








Clayton Preble

A graduate of Yarmouth Academy, Yarmouth, Maine, Class of 1935.  He was a resident of Addison, Maine.  Clayton had been on Corrigador Island as a Coast Artillery Officer in the Philippines.  He was taken, along with Oscar Look of Addison, Maine, in the Bataan Death March as prisoners of the Japanese Empire.  Clayton died June 11, 1943, in a Prison War Camp in Osaka, Japan.  Clayton was 25 years old.




Lester S. Look, Jr.
 
A graduate of Columbia Falls High School, Class of 1937.  He was killed October 24, 1943, over Holland or Germany.  He was a crewmember on a B-17 Flying Fortress.  Lester was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force and was 24 years old.




Burleigh Weldon Carter
 
A resident of Addison, Maine.  He was killed June 16, 1944.  The plane he was on was shot down over Vienna, Austria.  He was an aerial gunman, staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.  Weldon was 22 years old.





Kenneth Allen Sproul

A graduate of Cherryfield Academy, Class of 1941.  He was on the third tour of duty overseas when he was reported missing in action, June 1944.  Kenneth was a signalman, third class, in the U.S. Navy and was 20 years old.



Ivan Caler
 
A resident of Centerville.  He was killed July 16th, 1943 in the
European Theater.  Ivan was a Private First Class and
was 27 years old.




Russell A. Parker

A graduate of Addison High School, Class of 1939.  He drowned
July 5, 1944, at Anzio Beachhead in Salerno, Italy.  He was a Private First Class, Director of Communication for an artillery unit in the U.S. Army. 
Russell was 25 years old.




George R. Strout
 
A graduate of Cherryfield Academy, Class of 1939.  He was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart on July 11th, 1944.  Eighteen days later he was killed in action in France.  George was a Private First Class in the
U.S. Army Infantry and was 23 years old.






Daniel E. Leighton
 
A graduate of Milbridge High School, Class of 1934.  He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and later died in an army hospital in Brest, France. 
Daniel was 28 years old.



Daniel P. Handy
 
A resident of Addison, Maine.  He was killed September 15, 1944, in Germany when his tank was blown up during the Battle of the Bulge.  He was a tank driver for the 5th Armored Division.  Daniel was a Private in the U.S. Army
and was 22 years old.





Robert E. Look

A graduate of Columbia Falls High School, Class of 1942.  He was killed by enemy fire while clearing a road network of mines November 23, 1944.  Robert was a Private in the U.S. Army and was 20 years old.




Clifford E. Stevens

A  graduate of Columbia Falls High School, Class of 1939.  He was killed November 23, 1944, in France.  He was a Corporal in the 35th Armed Tank Battalion 4th Armed Division, U.S. Army. 
Clifford was 23 years old.




Ember L. Grant

A graduate of Columbia Falls High School, Class of 1943.  He was killed on December 4, 1944, in the European Theater.
Embert was a Private in the U.S. Army and was 19 years old.




Edward B. Beal
 
A resident of Milbridge, Maine.  He was killed January 1, 1945, in Lexinburg, Germany.  Edward was in a U.S. Arm Mechanized Division, Private First Class and was 24 years old.





Gay M. Millett
 
A graduate of Milbridge High School, Class of 1943.  He was killed
May 14, 1945, in Luzon, Philippines.  He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army Infantry.  Gay was 20 years old.




Alton Driscoll

A graduate of Columbia Falls High School, Class of 1944.  He was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.  On his way home on leave he was murdered and his body was found in the Penobscot River,
Bangor, Maine, May 15, 1946.  Alton was 20 years old.




Roger Winfield Nash

A graduate of Harrington High School, Class of 1931.  He was a first mate aboard the oil tanker, Williamsburg.  The ship was sunk by enemy fire in 1942.  He was declared dead in 1945.  Roger was 32 years old.





Oscar L. Sprague
 
A resident of Milbridge, Maine.  He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and member of the 2nd Infantry Division.  He was listed as missing in action while fighting in South Korea on September 3, 1950.  He was presumed dead on December 31st, 1953.  Oscar was 26 years old.






Glenn Ingersoll

A resident of Addison, Maine.  Glenn served n the U.S. Army.  He drowned July 20, 1976, in Germany.  He had been a Medic in Vietnam. 
Glenn was a sergeant and was 26 years old.




Nicholes Golding

A graduate of Narraguagus High School, Class of 1998.  Nicholes was a sergeant in the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division. 
He was killed by a land mine on February 13, 2004, in Afghanistan. 
Nicholes was 24 years old.
