Homework/classwork - Homework is due the next class period, unless
stated otherwise. Generally, late work is not accepted and is graded at
my discretion.
Participation - Your participation in class is important and will
enhance your overall experience in IS 2. There are many ways to
participate, such as coming prepared, class discussions, group work and
paying attention.
Notebook - A three ring binder is required for this class. You will
also need dividers. Keeping an up to date and organized notebook is an
important educational skill. Please refer to the handout for specific
guidelines and grading.
MLR Responses - The Maine Learning Results for science are the
standards that the state requires all students to be proficient in. The
curriculum is built around the MLRs and supports them. A written
response to individual MLRs will be required from time to time. They
will be scored on content and mechanics using a rubric MLRs are posted
on the classroom website.
Labs/Projects - There will be one to two long term investigative
projects culminating with a formal report during the first semester.
Laboratory exercises will be performed during the second semester. They
will also culminate with a formal report. Generally, a week is given
after the lab or project is performed to write the report. THEREFORE,
NO LATE REPORTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Please refer to the lab report rubric
and scoring guide.
Tests - Tests are usually a combination of multiple choice and short
answer. It is important to prepare for them and practice good study
skills.
