Congratulations Suzen Polk-Hoffses, Kindergarten Teacher at Milbridge Elementary! The Educate Maine Board of Directors, Education Commissioner Steven Bowen, and the Maine State Board of Education, are pleased to announce that you have been named one of the six semi-finalists for 2014 Maine Teacher of the Year! This is truly an honor of which you can be proud.
A panel of teachers, school administrators, educational organization representatives and business people scored your application packet. This was an exceedingly difficult decision for the application review panel of the 2014 nominees were outstanding candidates. The nominee application pool was very diverse and included a broad spectrum of educational experience.
As a semi-finalist, Suzen will now undergo an intensive selection process — which includes a school visit, a professional portfolio review, and an oral presentation — before the pool is narrowed to three finalists. Those finalists will then sit for an interview before the 2014 Maine Teacher of the Year is selected. The review panels consist of past Teachers of the Year, principals, Maine Department of Education staff, and members of professional education organizations and the business community. The 2014 Maine Teacher of the Year will be announced at a surprise all-school assembly in September.
Mrs. Polk-Hoffses - we are so proud of you. You will be an excellent representative for all the hard working and dedicated teachers in our district.
