Milbridge impressed their fans on October 5th at home versus Cherryfield with a dominant 10-2 victory. Cherryfield came out of the whistle with a quick goal - a header by #1, putting them up 1-0 to begin the game. But it would be ten consecutive goals by Milbridge before they would find another.
Seven goals in the first quarter was the response from a hungry team who was still recovering from a loss the day before. #1 Jose smooth pass to Edgar, #2 Edgar with a rocket shot, #3 Ryan on the right side, #4 Jose corner kick and Braydin put back, #5 Jose corner and Burren with a strong put back, #6 Jose with a blast from outside, #7 Sergio slots it to the left corner. 7-1 was the score after the first quarter.
Jose continued his impressive display from corner kicks. He scored off a corner when his ball deflected off a defender and into the net (8-1). His two corner kick assists and two goals earned him Player of the Match recognition. Edgar scored his second goal of the game by playing a ball into net after receiving it off his chest for a creative finish (9-1). Ryan slotted his second goal of the game to the lower corner of the net - putting Milbridge well ahead 10-1.
Cherryfield would hold Milbridge from scoring in the fourth quarter however, and scored the goal of the game in the process. #1 received a beautiful cross from the right side by #5. #1 quickly released and scored with a strong finish (10-2). A Milbridge defense that performed wonderfully throughout the game, captained by Hayden, was left tipping their hats to this impressive display of great soccer.
