Soccer Ball cracked wall

For the final game of the regular season, Milbridge traveled to Jonesport to play on the big field on October 17th.  After nearly two weeks without a game, Milbridge demonstrated what they have been practicing - a quick pressure defense, and a wide open high tempo offense.  A complete performance from start to finish for the Tigers, as they convincingly won the game 10-0.

The Milbridge defense rotated throughout the game in a back four that featured Sylas Absalom, Victor Flores, Alan Ortiz, Kaylie Paniagua-Ruiz, and the captain for the game, 8th grader Anthony Castro.  Goalie Hayden Lovejoy had very little action in goal, as the Milbridge defense played high on the field and attacked the ball on any progression Jonesport had.  This was their most impressive display as a defensive unit this season that consists of four 6th graders - the future looks promising for the Tigers.

The offense also showed up in full force.  Edgar opened the game with two goals in classic Edgar fashion.  Then, it was midfielder Joselyn Lara scoring her first goal of the season after a cross into the box by Edgar (3-0).  Jose scored the next two goals from outside making the score 5-0 after the first half.

In the second half, Ryan somehow managed to score after his glasses fell off (6-0).  A great moment of sportsmanship was expressed when a Jonesport player picked up the glasses during the play to make sure they were not broken - truly the play of the game.

Goals continued to find the back of the net: #7 Edgar to Braydin with a blast, #8 Braydin through ball to Sergio, #9 Edgar through ball to Sergio, #10 Edgar blast off the post.  Though he did not tally on the scoresheet, sweeper Burren Absalom took home player of the game honors as he facilitated both offensive progression and defensive soundness.
